Abstract
Today, significant changes are taking place that affect all aspects of human life, including security, within the lifetime of one generation. Based on the analysis of the monitoring of scientific and practical discourse, the main prerequisites for the introduction of innovations in teaching security disciplines in higher education institutions are highlighted, which is now an important component of the readiness of a future specialist for professional activity. The use of innovations for the formation of security competence includes cooperation with specialists from various services, meetings with people who have been injured (occupational diseases), showing various video materials from the scene of events, etc.The modern technological environment in which people live is marked by an ever-increasing number of threats to their safety. Accordingly, pedagogical institutions of higher education should address the problem of forming in students such qualities that will make it impossible to prevent the occurrence of dangerous situations, and in case of their occurrence ‒ to minimize the negative impact on others, especially in emergency situations. The combination of these attributes determines the culture of safe human activity. The future specialist must acquire the knowledge necessary to perform their professional duties, as well as become a communicator and a link that contributes to security within the enterprise or organization, regardless of their field of activity.Traditionally, the primary elements that contribute to the state of safety for human life and activity include: a constant increase in the number and scale of hazards of natural origin caused by environmental pollution, which disrupts the ecological balance; an increase in the number of hazards of technogenic origin that arise in production facilities when a person interacts with complex technical equipment; socio-political reasons characterized by an increase in tension in society. Thus, the relevance and importance of studying the educational component “Occupational Safety and Health in Industry” in higher education institutions can hardly be overestimated.
