Abstract

Baby stroller is a transportation device for carrying a toddler easily and safely. Nowadays, many types of stroller were developed and used by people. However, as much as 54.5% of users experienced dissatisfaction in utilizing the stroller which is difficult to climb stairs, damaged easily, unpractical, difficult to fold, stored goods fall easily, heavy, and takes up space. Thus, it is significance to improve this stroller design to be more ergonomic. Objective of this study is to develop an innovative design of stroller on basis ergonomic principles for alleviating some problem in use. Integration of axiomatic design method and house of quality concept was implemented in this study to determine the specification. Anthropometric data of users is also applied into the design. Non-parametric statistic method was applied to test the hypotheses. The results of this study is an innovative design of stroller in which it is equipped with chain wheels, handbrakes, and phosphor sticker on the wheels as well as it is more comfortable, safer, and more efficient. This new design is also valid to satisfy user requirement and differences with the existing design at 5% of significance level.
