Abstract

In the 1990s Sasol became a global player in the chemical industry. At the same time the company began to reduce its dependence on coal as a feedstock turning to natural gas and developing joint ventures with foreign oil companies. For Sasol the 1990s was a decade of far reaching change in both technology and in the scale of its international operations as it expanded from its original petroleum basis into the development of related chemical products.
