Abstract
Almost all of the single-particle strength of the neutron-hole state 1h/sub 11///sub 2//sup -1/ in /sup 145/,/sup 147/Nd and /sup 147/,/sup 149/,/sup 151/,/sup 153/Sm has been observed by using the preferential population to the high-spin states of the (/sup 3/He, ..cap alpha..) reaction at 82 MeV. The strength distribution in the ..cap alpha..-particle spectra suggests that the 1h/sub 11///sub 2//sup -1/ state in these nuclei is split into the Nilsson orbitals as a result of deformation. The deformation parameters obtained are consistent with those of the adjacent even-even nuclei, except in the N = 85 isotones.
