Abstract

Rate of dilepton production from kaon annihilation is proposed to probe the kaon properties at finite densities. The chiral model predicts that the interaction between K± and nucleon is attractive in average, which leads to enhancement of the rate of dilepton production from kaon annihilation in heavy ion collisions, especially in the invariant mass region near the Φ meson, assuming the vector meson dominance model. Softening of the kaon dispersion relation in nuclear medium has a sizable effect on the dilepton production rate, which may be detected in experiments.
