Abstract

Aiming at the limitation of the dynamic mesh method in solving the flow field of rotating machinery, an injection lubrication model of high-speed helical gear is proposed using the overset mesh method. The tooth lubrication performance is evaluated through oil volume fraction and oil pressure. Results show that the tooth lubrication is well when the injection angle is 7.5° and the injection velocity is 45 m/s. The lubrication performance will be improved by 7.726% and 47.259% through optimizing the injection angle and velocity, respectively. Swirling and oil deposition appear under the driving wheel. The simulation results agree well with the experimental measurements. These findings provide new insight into reducing friction and improving the transmission efficiency of high-speed aviation gears.
