Abstract
Eight national missions were established by the National Action Plan for Climate Change (NAPCC) to implement “multi-pronged, long-term integrated solutions” in the context of climate change. To address these escalating climate-related issues, the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEFCC) works with many ministries involved in power, renewable energy, urban development, research and technology, water resources, and agriculture. The Indian government is developing and implementing several measures to boost the nation’s ability to produce solar energy. The Indian government also sponsors the Atal, Swachh Bharat, and Smart Cities for Sustainable Habitat missions. The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) wrote reports on the missions’ successful completion. Several initiatives, like the National Mission on Sustainable Habitat (NMSH) and National Mission for Sustaining the Himalayan Ecosystem (NMSHE), have a reduced greenhouse gas emission target in mind to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Indian Himalayas. Punjab and Himachal Pradesh are also helping to improve conditions in the basin through the State Action Plan on Climate Change (SAPCC). The development of highly effective solutions and oversight of their execution is essential for adapting to and mitigating climate change.
