Abstract

Academic writing is a specific form of writing employed in academic fields, such as social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences. However, generating initial ideas for preparing a manuscript for academic writing can be a difficult and intricate endeavour, especially for novice authors. The objective of this study is to review an initial approach to preparing a manuscript for academic writing. In conclusion, this study suggests five (5) initial approaches to preparing a manuscript for academic writing, namely: (a) generate ideas from the results; (b) field of research as a perspective; (c) get a “helicopter view”; (d) write from a framework; and (e) avoid unfamiliar apps. This study suggests several recommendations for future research, namely to assess the efficacy of online writing communities and platforms, comprehend the influence of cultural variety, and investigate the impact of incorporating technology in academic writing.
