Abstract

At least three peptides accumulating in uraemic serum inhibit glucose utilization in the rat diaphragm. The nature of these peptides is unknown. Their amino acid composition was determined. This finding is the first direct evidence differentiating the pathogenesis of abnormal glucose utilization in uraemia from that in diabetes.
