Abstract

Abstract Various chemical tests have been conducted on amine oleate based inhibitors in temporary protective coatings (TPC). Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) evaluation, depth profiling of iron concentration in coatings as well as wetting angle and water vapor permeation tests have been made. Additionally, water extracts from coatings were tested by infrared (IR) evaluation and pH measurements. The studies helped in verifying the adsorption and metallic soap formation mechanism for amine oleates inhibition of mild steel and provided evidence for synergistic effects.
