Infringement for copying publicly filed court documents: class action certified in Ontario

Abstract

In Waldman v. Thomson Reuters Corporation, 2012 ONSC 1138, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, certified a class action for the alleged copyright infringement committed by Carswell, a division of Thomson Reuters Canada Limited, for copying publicly filed and available court documents and making them available on their ‘Litigator’ service for a fee.
