Abstract
I.R. spectra of the quarternary ammonium nitrates (Q's): trilauryl-methyl-ammonium nitrate (TLMA), trilauryl-ethyl-ammonium nitrate (TLEA), trioctyl-propyl-ammonium nitrate (TOPA), and hexadecyl-dimethyl-benzyl-ammonium nitrate (HDDMBA) in KBr and different solvents have been studied. Solutions of Q in benzene and octanol modified dodecane were saturated with Th(NO 3) 4 and information has been obtained on the nature of nitrate in the thorium-hexanitrato-ammonium complex in either homogeneous or light and heavy organic metal loaded phases.
