Abstract

Reflectivity spectra of trigonal single crystals of Se 1−xTe x indicate a single reststrahlen band for each direction of incident polarization. The frequencies of the phonons associated with these bands vary continuously between those of Se and Te. A model which accounts for this observed “one” mode behavior is discussed.
