Abstract

The paper examines the different effects of information technology (IT) in products, processes, office work and services and some of the implications for the international division of labour and developing countries. The basic argument is that the technological profile of all productive activities is changing and this has far reaching effects in industry (reinvention of industry) and services (transportability of services). The effects on LDC is essentially one of increasing obsolescence of their industries, services and development strategies.
