Abstract
The position of the maxillary central incisor (MCI) directly affects the appearance of the patient's profile. For patients with bimaxillary protrusion or maxillary protrusion, orthodontic treatment often adopts a large number of retractions of the maxillary anterior teeth to improve the profile. However, the retraction of MCI is limited, and the maximum retraction depends on the distance between the root of MCI and the incisor canal(IC). This distance is not a constant value and is affected by many factors. This article reviews the influencing factors of the maximum retraction of MCI and its clinical significance in orthodontic treatment.
