Abstract
Objective To explore the correlation of general well-being and social support of patients with permanent colostomy, and to analyze the influencing factors of general well-being. Methods A convenient sample of 120 patients with permanent colostomy were recruited from June 2012 to December 2013 in Shanxi Province and investigated by the general well-being schedule scale and social support rating scale. Results The correlation coefficient of total general well-being score had positive relationship with social support score and its each dimensions containing objective support, subjective support and utilization degree of support (r=0.370, 0.269, 0.395, 0.269, respectively; P<0.05). The single factor analysis presented that the scores of general well-being were different impacting by different work status, family monthly income, ostomy self-care situation and defecation regularity (F/t=2.140, 2.471, 3.740, 3.080, respectively; P<0.05). By multiple stepwise regression analysis, defecation regularity, ostomy self-care situation and family monthly income respectively were influencing factors of general well-being. Conclusions The general well-being score and social support score of patients with permanent colostomy were positively correlated, and the family income, ostomy self-care situation and defecation regularity were influence factors of general well-being.
