Abstract

Ni-P alloy and Multi-walled carbon nanotubes were codeposited on medium carbon steel by electroless plating. The effect of MWCNTS concentration on the friction and anti-wear resistance of the coating was researched. The results showed that the introduction of MWCNTS into the composite coating enhanced obviously the wear resistance of Ni-P-MWCNTS coating. It was found that the Ni-P-MWCNTS composite coating exhibited a minimum coefficient of friction, with a MWCNTS concentration of 0.3g/L, under 5N applied load. The wear rate of Ni-P-MWCNTS coating was lowest when the MWCNTS concentration in the bath was 0.3g/L.
