Abstract

On the basis of a microscopic nonlocal theory and k· p approach, an analysis of conduction band non-parabolicity effects on the linear absorption and photon drag arising from intersubband transitions in a single quantum well has been carried out. It is shown via detailed numerical simulations that, in comparison with the non-parabolic band model, the parabolic model overestimates intersubband absorption and photon drag current; blueshifts of the absorption peak and zero crossing of photon drag current are also overestimated.
