Abstract
This paper presents the optimal design of a double stator linear switched reluctance motor (LSRM). For reducing the mass of the LSRM and increasing the generated propulsive force, we present a sensitivity analysis of the effect of geometrical parameters on the produced force of the LSRM. The analysis ware carried out in two dimensions (2-D) using finite element method (FEM). The obtained results show how the LSRM performances are influenced by the geometrical parameters. The optimised structure confirms that the proposed 2D FEM to be a useful tool for optimizing the structure of the LSRM.
