Abstract

A proper clearance between the working tools components is a very important factor that can permit to obtain micro or milli drawn parts in accordance with their theoretical profile. The present paper analyses the results of investigations made by experiment and simulation concerning the influence of tool clearances value on the micro and milli drawn parts quality. The main negative effects of the inadequate tool clearances that can occur during deep drawing of such parts (deviations from the part theoretical profile: wall inclination, wall curvature, modification of part edge radius; intensification of different phenomena: springback, wrinkling and cracking) were especially analyzed in the paper. On the basis of the present analysis the optimum values of tool clearances were established in order to avoid their negative effects.
