Abstract
Ti modified Bi 0.8 Ba 0.2 Fe 1−x TixO 3 (x = 0.1, 0.2, 0.3) ceramics were prepared by conventionalmethod based on the solid state reaction of mixed oxides. The crystal structures of the samples were identified as rhombohedral and relative dielectric constants of the samples increased gradually, while the loss tangents decreased with the increase of Ti content. An anomaly in the dielectric constant (e) in the vicinity of the antiferromagnetic Neel temperature (T N ) was observed. The room temperature magnetic hysteresis loops were not saturated and the magnetic moment was found to decrease with Ti ions doping. Maximum magnetization (2Mr) for x = 0.1 was 0.033emu/g. Ferroelectric hysteresis loops were observed with maximum remnant polarization (2Pr) = 18.64 µC/cm2 and coercivity (Ec) = 10.53kV/cm for x = 0.3. Ferroelectric and magnetic hysteresis loops measured at room temperature indicated the multiferroic behaviour.
