Abstract
The present paper presents an analysis of the influence of thermal fluctuations on the superconductive state life time and turn-on delay time for a single Josephson element with high damping using the obtained exact representation of these time characteristics. The shape of the input pulse is assumed to be rectangular and the duration of the pulse is assumed to be much longer than the turn-on delay of the Josephson element. The analysis has been made within the well-known resistive model of a Josephson junction. It is shown that fluctuations may both decrease and increase the turn-on delay time. The results are presented in a form suitable for comparison with experiment.
