Abstract

Finite element analysis was used to calculate the solid-liquid interface shape during Bridgman growth. Comparisons with experimental observations on CdGeAs 2 showed generally good agreement. Calculations of the effect of moving the interface in a steep temperature gradient showed that the interface shape may change rapidly with position. The effects of anisotropic thermal conductivity in the solid are examined.
