Abstract

We study the fracture of 65G steel under cyclic mode-II loading of beam specimens with lateral cracks, experimentally determine the friction coefficient of crack faces for specimens made of steel with troostite structure, and plot the kinetic diagrams of fatigue fracture. The influence of the friction of crack faces on the cyclic crack-growth resistance of 65G steel under mode-II loading is established for troostite and sorbite structures depending on the growth rate of fatigue cracks.
