Abstract
Summary Addition of prostomia or brain secretions into the culture medium increases the synthesis of neutral lipids (NL) and especially of triglycerides by isolated oocytes of Nereis diversicolor. In parallel, after incorporation of 3H-glycerol, NL synthesis of oocytes from worms decerebrates 3 or 8 days previously is lower than in oocytes from control worms. This decrease is consistent whatever the incorporation lasts. In the discussion, we compare these results with those obtained in another species of Nereidae, Perinereis cultrifera, in which decerebration is not followed by a decrease in NL synthesis. These differences may be related to a different pattern of oocyte development under anhormonal conditions.
