Abstract

Indirect evaluations of the magnetostriction by measuring the anisotropy energy induced by applied stresses can be inconsistent in samples with great anisotropy dispersion. In this work, a semianalytical model about the influence of the local anisotropy direction in the magnetostriction measurements on uniaxial magnetic materials has been done. This model shows that in those cases the observed change of the magnetostriction constant with the applied stress is only an apparent one.
