Abstract

ABSTRACT Different textile fabric structures were treated with sustainable nanocomposite coatings. One step method was used for coating polyester and viscose fabrics of different textile structures warp and braids with smart nanocomposite coatings. Rice husk silica nanoparticle-chitosan nanocomposite coating was developed. The mass loadings of rice husk silica nanoparticles were varied. The thermal stability, UV shielding, and mechanical properties were investigated for coated and uncoated textile fabrics. The thermal stability of coated fabrics was enhanced and affected by textile structure type of the same textile fabrics. The tensile strength was enhanced by 16% when textile fabrics were coated and the textile structure type played a significant role in tensile strength performance. The ability of coated textile fabrics to shield harmful UV rays was enhanced by fourfold compared to bank textile. Also, effect of textile structure type on UV shielding properties was investigated.
