Abstract

1. It is established, on the basis of the test conditions adoped, that the material investigated is insensitive to a ring notch. 2. It is shown that, over the temperature range investigated, the strength characteristics of specimens with a spiral notch are 10–40% below those for plain specimens. This may be due to the fact that when comparable test conditions prevail molybdenum becomes sensitive to stress concentrations.
