Abstract

In general the Aluminium Metal Matrix Composites are an excellent category of the material it is satisfies the all requirements of the industrial applications due to their light weight, excellent stiffness and high strength. This present work planned to prepare the Aluminium Metal Matrix Composites by the way of using stir casting parameters with influence of different process parameters. This work considered the base material is aluminium alloy AA 5083-H321 with addition of reinforcement particles such Zirconium Oxide (ZrO2). Stir casting process is effectively conducted through bottom pouring stir casting furnace. Analysis of mechanical strength is one of the major roles for industrial need; this experiment conducted the impact strength on the prepared AMMCs. Statistical analysis (Taguchi approach) is involved to measure the higher impact strength as well as parameter optimization. Stir casting parameters are chosen as % of reinforcement (3%, 6% and 9%), stirring speed (300 rpm, 350 rpm and 400 rpm) and stirring time (20 min, 25 min and 30 min). In the impact strength analysis maximum impact strength is recorded as 26.37 Nm.
