Abstract
Based of the uniform geometrical diffraction theory method an asymptotic solution is obtained for the 3D vector problem of diffraction of the field of a vertical half-wave dipole placed above a rectangular metal screen. A substantial acceleration of the calculation of the patterns of such radiating system is achieved by using the obtained asymptotic expressions for geometric optics field and edge wave field. The fast-active developed software for the patterns computing are used for the detailed study of the physical peculiarities of the radiation field formation and the search of the influence of the screen sides ratio and the dipole to screen distance on the patterns. The reliability of calculations and the delimitation of applicability of the developed software are investigated by comparing with the patterns calculated using Feko software.
