Abstract

The studies were carried out in Priuraje Farm on ducks of the Medeo cross. The ducklings were kept under brooders for up to 10 days with subsequent transfer to enclosures. The effect of adding potassium iodide to the main diet of ducklings was experimentally studied. It was found that the addition of the drug improves the growth, development and safety of young animals. The live weight in the experimental groups reached 2722-2834 grams by 49 days age, which is for 2-88-10.29% higher than in the control group. The drug improves the safety of young animals up to 94.66%, vs 17.74% in the control one. The best indicators of growth, development and meat qualities were obtained by adding the drug to the main diet in a dose of 0.1 mg/kg. Potassium iodide increases the pre-slaughter weight, in comparison with the control group, for 2.87-7.1% and the meat bones ratio. Also, the drug’s positive effect was established on the development of internal organs of young ducklings.

Summary
