Abstract

The alloy type of molten metal obtained by melting used aluminum beverage cans agree with the chemical composition of body material (JIS 3004) of aluminum beverage cans and can-to-can recycling is possible. However, it has been found that molten metals are contaminated with impurity element titanium from paint. Therefore measures to prevent contamination of titanium in molten aluminum alloy were investigated. The investigation results indicated that contamination of titanium from paint can be prevented by removing paint by pretreatment of material and properly selecting melting temperature.
