Abstract
The critical current density and the irreversibility field for melt-powder-melt growth (MPMG)-processed YBa 2Cu 3O 7- δ samples are determined magnetically in fields parallel to the c axis. Both J c and B irr are depressed with increase of oxygen deficiency. B irr is not depressed appreciably with decrease of the concentration of Y 2BaCuO 5 precipitates in spite of a significant depression of J c. A bump structure in the J c( B) curve is observed and varies systematically with the oxygen deficiency. These results are compared to flux-pinning models.
