Abstract

Oxides are the key roles on the formation of self-lubricating layer (SLL) with anti-wear performance. In present study, dry sliding wear tests of 00Cr13Ni4Mo steel were performed to investigate the influence of oxides on SLL. The formation of SLL with different oxides was comparatively analyzed by the cross-sectional and surface morphologies. Mechanism of oxides on the integrity of SLL and anti-wear performance is discussed. It is confirmed that Cr-oxide, Fe3O4 and suitable SiO2 are the key to endow SLL with good self-lubricating performance while FeO, Fe2O3 and excessive SiO2 are opposite, good integrity of SLL is the prerequisite for anti-wear.
