Abstract
TiO2 nanowires with a multi-phase structure synthesized by a hydrothermal method and doped with nitrogen by using annealing process in N2 atmosphere at different temperatures. The effects of nitrogen content on the structural, optical, and catalytic properties were studied by XRD, XPS, SEM, and UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. XRD patterns showed the presence of both anatase and rutile phases in doped products. UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy revealed a red shift in the optical absorption edge. The photocatalytic activity was studied by the degradation of methyl orange aqueous solution under visible light irradiation and higher photocatalytic activity was found in N-doped materials.
