Abstract
Objective To explore the influence of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) on mental health and coping style of nurses in department of psychiatry. Methods By convenience sampling, 84 in-job nurses in a Grade-Ⅱ hospital specialized in psychiatry in Beijing were selected and trained for three months about NLP. Before and after the training, the nurses were surveyed by Symptom checklist 90 (SCL-90) and Coping style questionnaire, so that the results of intervention could be compared. Results After the intervention, total average score the 84 nurses got in SCL-90 dropped from 106.54 to 62.46 (Z=-5.872, P<0.01) , and all the scores they got in factors in coping style were increased. Conclusions Neuro-linguistic programming can reduce well negative emotions of nurses in department of psychiatry, improve their control ability of self-management, enhance their ability in applying positive coping style, and provide guidance for clinical practice.
