Abstract
To improve the lubricity of the as-prepared food-grade aluminum-based grease, the influence of two nano-additives (nano-PTFE and nano-CaCO3) on the tribological properties is systematically investigated using four-ball and ball-disc wear testers. The results reveal that as-prepared food-grade aluminum-based grease possesses excellent tribological properties after the addition of both nano-additives. Compared with a single-additive food-grade grease, the presence of two-additive significantly improves maximal non-seizer load, weld point load, test stability, the average coefficient of friction and wear volume of the disc owing to the synergistic role of pure grease, nano-additive and rubbing surface. Moreover, pure grease and two-additives-containing grease are verified to be safe by the Listeria monocytogenes method. These results provide valuable insights into the development of novel food-grade lubricants.
