Abstract

Objective To investigate the influence of methimazole and Chaihu Shugan powder on emotion and quality of life in patients with hyperthyroidism. Methods 130 cases of patients with hyperthyroidism were chosen and were divided into control group and research group. The control group was treated with methimazole, and the research group was treated with methimazole combined with Chaihu Shugan powder. After treatment, clinical effect, emotion, quality of life, thyroid hormone, adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the research group was higher than that of the control group (90.77% vs.72.31%), the recurrence rate was lower than that of the control group (12.31% vs.27.69%), with statistically different differences (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of FT4 and FT3 of the research group were lower than those of the control group, the level of TSH was higher than that of the control group, with statistically different differences (P<0.05). After treatment, HAMA and HAMD scores of the research group were lower than those of the control group, with statistically different differences (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of physical function, psychological function, material function, and social function of the research group were higher than those of the control group, with statistically different differences (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions of the research group was lower than that of the control group (7.69% vs.20.00%, P<0.05). Conclusion Methimazole combined with Chaihu Shugan powder has great improvement on quality of life and emotions in patients with hyperthyroidism, with good clinical effects.
