Abstract
The YFO ceramics have been synthesized using High Temperature Solid State Reaction (HTSSR) as well as Low Temperature Solid State Reaction (LTSSR) technique in powder form. The Perovskite orthorhombic YFeO3 phase has been identified in the x-ray studies of the powder samples prepared with HTSSR technique. In addition, 24 % of Y2O3 phase is also detected in the HTSSR powder samples. This phase reduced with increasing calcination time, however could not be suppressed below 8 % even after calcination for 72 h. Whereas, the powder samples prepared using LTSSR technique exhibit only pure YFeO3 phase, on calcination at 950 °C for 6hrs.Therefore found a more convenient and less time-consuming technique for the development of the orthorhombic YFeO3phase in YFO ceramics.
