Abstract

In this work the co-precipitation method has been used to synthesize the Nickel oxide nanocrystals doped with the Li ions. The concentration of Li ions has been kept at 0.00, 0,01, 0.02 and 0.03 M in the representative chemical formula Ni1-xLixO. The effect of varying concentration of lithium (Li) on the structural, optical, and electrical properties of NiO nanocrystals has been investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV–visible spectroscopy and Hall effect measurements. The crystals exhibit rock salt-like structure however, the crystallite size increases with the doping of Li ions. The calculated dislocation density decreases drastically upon doping whereas the strain decreases slightly. The bandgap decreases monotonously with the increasing Li ion concentration. The resistivity decreases at higher concentrations of Li ions in the samples in consistency with the charge carrier concentration and the mobility measurements.
