Abstract

The present study reports the sol–gel routed synthesis of M-type Ba0.6Sr0.3Er0.1Fe11.5-xAl0.5CoxO19 (x = 0.00, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2) hexaferrites. The impacts on the structural and magnetic properties of these hexaferrites were next examined at various doping contents. Various techniques were then used to characterize these samples. The X-ray diffraction findings confirmed the pure hexagonal phase with no prominent peaks of impurity. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) revealed that hexaferrites with uniform particle dispersion were formed. The magnetic properties of Ba0.6Sr0.3Er0.1Fe11.5-xAl0.5CoxO19 hexaferrites at room temperature showed that a doping level of (x = 1.5), Ba0.6Sr0.3Er0.1Fe11.5-xAl0.5CoxO19 hexaferrites showed excellent magnetic properties with mB = 10.197µB, Ms = 54.126 emu/g, Hc = 4.172 kOe, and Ha = 1.303 kOe along with anisotropy parameter B suggested a decrease in the resistance of magnetic domains. The magnetic characteristics of Barium hexaferrites was considerably improved through the doping of cobalt, making these types of hexaferrites highly beneficial in numerous magnetic applications.
