Abstract
The influence of electron beam and laser remelting on the high temperature oxidation behaviour of HVOF-sprayed MCrAlY coatings is revealed on CoNiCrAlY coatings containing 8 wt.% aluminium. Different test specimens (as sprayed status, electron beam remelted and laser remelted) were oxidized under the same conditions (at 950 °C for 168 hours in synthetic air). After oxidation, the structures of the coatings were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), in order to point out the effects on the oxidation behaviour obtained by the two remelting methods applied on the coatings.
