Abstract
The use of rails as an earth connection device for overhead line masts without interfering in the track circuit operation is discussed. Earth connection through the impedance bonds, as well as direct earth connection on the rails are investigated. Mathematical models of earthed track circuits are proposed. Computations are carried out, and standard values of acceptable earth resistances are given.
