Abstract

From the observed correlation between internal friction and the different crystallization reactions, it is concluded that during primary crystallization there is a decrease of internal friction in the remaining amorphous phase, too. Cold rolling has no significant effect on either kind of volume crystallization and only a slight influence on the corresponding internal friction peaks. An apparent acceleration of crystallization by cold rolling in Fe 40 Ni 40 B 20 was found to be due to enhanced surface crystallization.
