Abstract

The TME of whole or ground linseed with or without builder's sand was determined using precision-fed Single Comb White Leghorn roosters. Excreta were collected 24 and 48 h after initial feeding. It was observed that the TME of ground linseed was higher than that of whole linseed. Feeding builder's sand resulted in greater TME ( P<0.05) compared to feeding the grain alone in either whole or ground form. However, there was no effect of grinding when builder's sand was fed. The data suggest that dietary supplementation of poultry feed with builder's sand can be alternative to grinding oil seeds.
