Abstract
The paper presents the characteristics performance of broken bars fault in induction motor at standstill. The Finite Element Method is used to compute performance data in the paper, and three different cases were studied, which contains the healthy cage, one broken bar and two adjacent broken bars fault. From this data, the distinct fault signatures of each of the above mentioned motor faults are extracted. These cases are studied for proof-of-principle in a 380-volt, 50-Hz, 2-pole, 1.1kW, squirrel cage 3-phase induction motor. From the results, some valuable ideas can be proposed to the broken bars faults diagnosis.
