Abstract

Present study was undertaken to know the role of pollinators in Niger ecosystem and its influence on yield parameters during three consequent years i.e., from rabi, 2018–19 to 2020–2021. Results revealed that the overall diversity of pollinators was more during morning hours (at 11.00 AM) and gradually decreased after in the evening hours. Among different pollinator species the relative abundance and high foraging activity was more in A. cerana indica at 11.00 AM followed by Apis mellifera and Apis florea. More number of capsule per plant (57.7) and highest yield (4.81 q/ha) was observed in open pollination treatment (T4) followed by crop caged with European bees (T2) recorded a yield of 4.20 q/ha and lowest yield (1.62 q/ha) was observed in (T3) crop caged without bees and there was significant decrease in the yield in caged condition when compared with open pollination.
