Abstract
Heavy overdosage with ACTH, during three days before the challenging reinjection, had a marked inhibitory effect on the active anaphylactic shock induced in guinea pigs by reinjecting antigen at dose levels between the LD 15 and LD 85. Simultaneously, ACTH effected a significant decrease in the nonspecific “inflammatory potential” as indicated by the response to a para-articularly injected mustard suspension.
