Abstract

Abstract On the basis of magneto-optical theory and the method of the characteristic matrix of optical admittance for multilayer structures, the dependence of effective Faraday rotation (θF∗), reflectivity (R), and the figure of merit ( F = R sin 2 θ F ∗ ) of Bi-substituted DylG films with Cr, Cu and Al reflectors are calculated and discussed. At some special points of wavelength, the optimum optical disk structure is designed to produce a greater signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) on the basis of F.
