Abstract

The authors present a geometric procedure which generates a class of cosmological models of deflationary type, i.e. models in which a primordial phase of accelerated expansion evolves smoothly towards the final decelerating state of standard cosmology. They also discuss the possibility that the initial de Sitter geometry, obtained in the context of these models, may be physically interpreted as the consequences of an early phase in which the contribution of finite-size objects becomes dominant.
